I’m sure you remember counting the days until March Break. You couldn’t wait to be off school! As a mom or dad, unless you are going down south or on an amazing ski vacation – you may be counting the days for a completely different reason! Lots of planning goes into keeping your kids and family busy. Luckily, the City of Burlington offers a variety of drop-in activities and there is still a few camp and swim lesson spots available to keep your children and family active and away from too much screen-time during the week.
Here‘s the breakdown of activities and programs offered:
DROP IN FAMILY GYM TIME (5 months – 8 years): Drop by the gym, shoot some hoops, play soccer and for the preschoolers, have fun with the equipment and toys. Don’t forget your indoor running shoes. For location, date and times see our March Break page.
SKATING: Got skates and helmets? GREAT…. you are all ready to go! We offer a ton of both shinny hockey and recreational skating opportunities for all ages throughout March Break! Check them out on our website. For all the details on admission and rates go to our website skating page.
SWIMMING: Can’t be down south at the beach? No worries! You can still put on the swimsuits and play in the water. Lots of options to choose from like; family swims, lap swimming, water running, fun swims, leisure swims and so much more!! The swim schedule and options are posted on our website. Oh and before you go, you will want to quickly check-out the rates and admission information on the swimming page.
CAMPS: With just to two weeks to March Break, many of our camp programs are full. But there’s still hope! You can always put your name on the waitlist (no fee required). You will be notified if there is a cancellation or, if a new program opens up. All of our camp programs offer before and after care for parents whose schedules may require a bit more flexibility.
There’s still space available in our camp programs for individuals with disabilities. March Break Camp – Cando at Tansley Woods for children ages 5 -12 years of age or, March Break -Outdoor Opportunity for youth and young adults, 13 – 21 years of age, with disabilities. These programs are integrated and offer a staff ratio of 1:8 and 1:1 depending on needs. Daily swim, special guests and a cool trip is part of the line-up of fun for the week.
